What’s a FCAMPT designation?

FCAMPT designation certified means Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Physical Therapy. This designation is regarded as the highest level of manual therapy training that an orthopaedic physiotherapist can obtain.

Do you know that beyond being primary care practitioners, there are highly trained physiotherapists that perform spinal and joint manipulation?

CAMPT certified in Milton

Physiotherapists upon graduating from physiotherapy school can further their training and specialize in the movement and treatment of the spine and peripheral joints of the body through manual hands-on means and manipulation.

Research has proven that manipulative therapy can help you regain functional mobility and a faster return to pain free recovery.  Techniques such as thrust manipulation (utilized by other professionals such as chiropractors and osteopaths) have demonstrable benefits in reducing pain. Also, help restoring joint movement and normalizing muscle tone and tension.

If you have any questions or require any further information on how manipulative physiotherapy can help you, please stop by and ask your local FCAMPT therapist Neil and see if this approach is right for you.

NEIL FLORES
Registered Physiotherapist

Neil began his career in 1999 after graduating from the physiotherapy program at Queen’s University in Kingston. Quickly found an affinity towards orthopaedic physiotherapy.

Taking courses in both the Mulligan and McKenzie methods of assessment, treatment and progressing through the Level systems within the orthopaedic division of the CPA, Neil quickly began to hone his skills within the private setting for the next 5 years.

However, in 2004, with a sense of adventure growing, Neil enrolled in the prestigious Master’s of Manipulative Physiotherapy program at Curtin University in Perth Australia.

There he studied under Steve Edmonston and world-renowned researcher Peter O’Sullivan. He instilled a different approach to manual therapy, which would later shape his ongoing evolution of patient care.

As a manual therapist, his primary approach involves soft tissue manipulation and improving body mechanics through joint mobilization and targeted exercise.

He firmly believes that with the proper guidance everyone has the capacity to heal oneself.
